New Member of Our Family

No, I'm not pregnant (as the Subject was be misleading....)

I do finally have some actual news to post on here, though. Monday we adopted another dog. She comes from a family that couldn't take care of her very well, so we took her in as a new sister for Zoey, but they are still adjusting to life in the same house.

Here is a picture of Miyah (pronounced like Mia).
She came with the name and the spelling, as it was on her stocking. She is two and a half years old, so a few months older than Zoey and eight pounds bigger! Her coloring is called brindle and is very rare when it comes to pugs. We aren't sure she is purebred, but she is such a sweetheart, it really doesn't matter!

She has really taken a liking to my dad and Bill, must have a thing for guys! Yesterday she slept for hours in front of my dad's door when he went to bed for the day (since he works graveyard still.)

We are glad to have her as an addition to our home and look forward to more stories as they unfold!

Sea World Vacation

Bill and decided it was time for a vacation. I had never been to Sea World and Bill said I would like it, so that was the decision. We drove down on Wednesday last week and came back Sunday morning. We spent all day Thursday at Sea World. Here are some pictures:

Flamingoes in the Lagoon. My dad has always been a fan of flamingoes... so this was for him.

A sea turtle just for Kacie. We have two turtles at our house that Kacie has had since first grade, so we have always had a draw to turtles of any kind.

Our favorite part was the dolphins. We made quick friends with them before the show started. This guy swam right up to the side of the pool and splashed us with his tail! I got soaked... and the show hadn't started yet!

Here he is waving at us... before the splash...

We got to take a picture with a dolphin after the show. This is Kenny. They had him jump up on the glass and pose for the picture... it was quite an experience! (Sorry for the bad picture, but it is a picture of a picture... didn't have time to scan it yet.)

Second on my favorites list were the penguins.... who doesn't love penguins! They are so energentic and cute. I got a lot more pictures for Kacie... she loves penguins too.

This was what we did when we weren't out having fun in the real world. Sadly, we didn't get to finish the puzzle. I never have time to do things like puzzles when I have to be at home and working. (Notice Bill in the mirror in the background playing solitaire on his phone!)

Video of the Manatee Rescue at Lunchtime - Aren't they cute!

This was our first trip together outside of Utah for any long period of time. (The only other was a weekedn trip to Mesquite.) We spent day one at Sea World, then on Friday, we drove up to Oceanside so Bill could show me where they lived while they lived down there. Bill also took me down to the harbor in Oceanside but the beach looked to cold to really go out and see the water up close. Saturday, we chose to basically veg in the room and rent movies and order delivery. We found a great place to order from called Oggi's Pizza and Brewery. We also had to eat at all the places we don't have in Utah that we both miss i.e. Jack in the Box, Tommy's Burgers, In-N-Out Burger. We do love our burgers!

Bill drove the whole way down going near 90 mph and never got caught. Saturday night, we decided to get a jump on the drive home and left San Diego around 10 pm and drive through the night. Pulling into St George for gas, Bill got caught going 86 in a 60 mph zone! He got a ticket for only 11 over, but this was his first ticket ever! Lucky....

All in all this was a pretty fun trip and it was good to get out of the house for awhile and see new things.

Being Sick Sucks... and other randomness

Well, from my title, you can see where this is going. Everyone at our house is sick or getting over being sick right now. A week and a half ago, my mom went to the doctor because she wasn't getting better and found out she had bronchitis. Not even four days later, I woke up with a sore throat, evolving into a cough and congestions, and ended up only working one day last week (with the holiday and our new four-day work-week, of course) . Bill woke up the very next day with a sore throat and is not over it still. I'm feeling better, so I am back to work today, although unwillingly.... My dad is sick as well, but thankfully the doctor told me that all I had, and probably my dad and Bill, was a head cold... "Take sudafed and drink plenty of fluids"... waste of $20! Kacie came to visit on Sunday and counted herself lucky that she didn't live in our house anymore.... lucky her!

Anyway, aside from the plague, we haven't done much. We didn check out the carnival at Payson Onion Days one night, but Bill realized how much of a small town we live in and didn't want to do much. I bought a funnel cake and that was about it, before the rains started!

Most of the last two weeks, Bill and I have spent playing our newest favorite online game, "Lord of the Rings Online." This is a guilty pleasure of mine right now. It's an online world, based on the books/movies where you get to explore and complete tasks, etc. I like the escape it brings from my everyday life. Bill and play this a lot together. Bill has played it for quite a while, but wanted us to play together, so we are now kind of a geeky couple that has two full computers setup in our small bedroom in my parents' basement. Mock if you will, but it does give us something to do together, and that is the highest benefit.

Lastly and certainly not least, I have to put out my thoughts after reading my friend Kim's blog. I was very sad to hear about her youngest, Beefy, falling through a window and ending up at the hospital. Of course, I hear about this many days later since I didn't read her blog the whole time I was home sick. If you want the details, read her blog, but I want to put out there that our prayers are with him and Kim and Trent and Buggy and I hope that Beefy will continue to improve. Get Better Soon, Beefy! Everyone here in Utah is rooting for you!

Life Keeps Going On

Well, once again, it has been too long since I updated my blog. Jody at church told me she found my blog so I now know SOMEONE is out there reading things. Here's the updates on life:

KACIE: Kacie is no longer engaged, and I believe all the happier for it. Marriage is a big step and not to be taken lightly. I like having happy Kacie back around. If you want the story, just ask me some time. She is going to start at UVU in Nursing tomorrow (if she gets registered!) and moved into a new apartment on August 16th. She and her friend Jessica moved into a four bedroom apartment in Provo (almost Orem) and it seems like a great place. I know she likes having her own space and a huge closet! Bill and I went up to see it for the first time on Sunday. She's all settled in and excited to start something new in her life.

ZOEY: At our house, Zoey is the entertainment committee. Her newest trick is watching TV and jumping at the TV. She doesn't seem to be very particular in what she tries to attack, but my mom and dad say that her favorites as of lately are Underdog and Rattatoille, also anything that features animals of any kind. In my parents room, the TV sits up on a dresser and Zoey has learned how to "launch" herself off the dresser to get quite the distance. Whenever we hear the thumping coming from upstairs, Bill says the Zoey is getting in her daily calisthenics (sp?). My mom got a few pictures and short videos, I'll try and get them posted to Zoey's blog this weekend.

A HOME OF OUR OWN: Lately, I have been very interested in looking for houses. More and more I really just want a house, and space, of my own. It's mostly just dreaming at this point, as we can't afford very much, but I like dreaming. Hopefully this dream will become a reality soon. My goal is Spring of '09!

MY JOB: On August 4th, as many of you may have heard in the news, the State of Utah went to a 4/10's schedule, which includes me! It has been a hard adjustment having less time at home in the evenings, but having Friday to do this has been nice for the last three weeks. I work from home for a few hours each Friday, telecommuting, as the bus schedule doesn't allow me to physically be at work for 10 hours in a day, so the nice director of ORS allowed this flexibility to me. I love working in my pajamas! Too bad that's not really acceptable at work the rest of the week!

READING: I just finished The Host (after devouring Breaking Dawn!) and I was really happy that the ending was not a downer. If you liked the Twilight series and haven't tried The Host, read it! Stephanie Myers is a great author no matter the story. The Host was a little slow at first, but really picked up in the middle and then you just have to finish it to know how it all turns out. Of course, now I'm completely out of books to read, so I'm looking for suggestions!

CHURCH CALLINGS: I was released from Young Women's in July (just before Girl's Camp!) I thought I would have a breather for a while, but apparently that was not the case. First they asked if I wanted to play Piano for Primary, but I told them I couldn't do it without the proper practice I would need (and don't have time for). Next, they offered me the Sacrament Meeting Chorister, which is now my current calling. It seems to be okay so far, but I was looking forward to just going to church and being a participant and not a coordinator of sorts. At least it was something that comes naturally without any effort!

SUMMER: The summer is basically over now and out house shows it! It looks like we have done nothing but camp all summer. With the scouts going on a river run, then the Uinta Pack-In trip, then Girl's Camp.... we ate leftover all through July and the camping stuff has taken over! Of course, I didn't get to go to any of those things, so it brings me to my last thing....

VACATION: I'm getting very excited for our vaction that I am planning. Bill and I are going to Sea World at the end of September. I am looking forward to it as I have never been and this is our first real vacation together since we have been married. I'll write about it more when we are done!

Ok, so that about covers what I can think of at this point. I would promise to try and write more often, but I can't really keep that promise, as past-practice dictates! I really enjoy reading what is going on in all your lives more, so keep up the good work! (i.e. Kim and Leanne....)

The "NEWS" and Some Other Stuff

The "NEWS" is that my sister Kacie is engaged! I've told only a few people, but it is official with a ring and everything. Her fiance is named Anthony Nyman and though I'm still not sure what I think about him, I'm happy for Kacie and wish her all the best in life. There is no official date yet, but their thoughts are to wait until Spring 2009.

Graduation went off without a hitch and Kacie did actually graduate! Hallelujah... A great relief for my mom. It was fun to get to see all the kids I worked with at the high school and all Kacie's "little" friends from long ago all grown up and graduating into the real world. Her friends from elementary school will always to little to me (although they are all taller than me by miles at this point!)
My Aunt Ramona and her two friends came to visit for the whole week of graduation, so we had to play hosts for a whole week. It is always good to see my Aunt since she lives in California and only comes out for special occasions (the last being my wedding two years ago!). They all left Sunday and things will hopefully get back to normal now.

That's all for now, but I'll probably post some more thoughts this afternoon.

Mother's Day / Car Project

Mother's Day has been on my mind for about a month now. It always seems like a bigger deal now that I'm married and basically have two mothers to think up gifts for.

The celebration started Saturday when my mom and I got up "early" to hit a sale at Out N Back. They opened at 9am and we were looking for a pad for her newest Big Agnes sleeping bag (which they had on sale for $50). We got there at 9:45 and they were already sold out! So much for saving a few bucks.

Once back home, my mom and I thought we would have plenty of time to install my new window motor in my Blazer before the famiy party at 4pm. The driver's side window has never worked since the day we bought the Blazer and Bill bought a new window motor for it, but we have never had time to install it. My mom has the know-how, so we thought it would take an hour or two, tops. We were soooo wrong.... Long story short, we had a few mishaps with getting the old one out a then figuring out how to get the new one in and five hours later it was in and works! Hallelujah! Of course, we were all late to the party, but Glines family parties run on "Mormon Standard Time" and showing up 45 minutes late means you are there just as everyone starts eating! The barbecue was really fun and getting to chat with my family is always entertainment galore. The chocolate fountain that my Aunt Colleen put up was a big hit and surprisingly not too big of a mess!

On the way home from the party, Bill and I stopped off at Home Depot to look at plants for our moms for Mother's Day. I left it up to Bill to pick out his present and ended up with a little Dwarf Spruce tree (that would not fit in our 350Z!) and had to call my parents to meet us at Home Depot to pick up the tree! I got my mom a beautiful hanging plant full of white and purple petunias. We took them home and hid them in our room until morning, but I'm surprised my mom didn't know they were there as they were very fragrant and quickly filled our room with scent.

On Sunday, we spent the afternoon at Bill's parents' house. I made a point to tell Bill's mom that he had picked out his own present, but his mom loved her little tree and even named it Midas. I do think it may have been the pain killers, but she said that he (the tree) told her that was his name! (She is always entertaining and fun.) We had Spiedies (something they ate back in New York, there is a festival and everything! Check the links!) for dinner, since they are a specialty of his family, and hung out for the rest of the day enjoying the weather and the wind!

Time Flys...

Well, as the title says, time flys by when you are having fun (or possibly just living life). After talking with my friend Kim, I think I have to get better at this blogging thing. Try to post more and be interesting.

So here's a start, a picture of our new car!

This is Bill's newest baby. In March, we traded in our Eclipse, bought this, and have made two whole payments on it. (Only 70 more to go!)
Also in March, my sister Kacie went to her Senior Prom. I just loved her dress! She made it modest and it was still gorgeous. She went with her friend Clint. They look a little "emo", but they had a lot of fun!

More things going on.... Bill turned 25 and seemed to have a quarter-life crisis (I guess that explains the new sporty car!) He just doesn't feel like he should be 25 yet, but who ever does?!
I "decorated" his cake with 25 cancles and the "2" and "5" candles. I'd post a picture of him with the cake, but one, he wouldn't like that and two, he didn't look happy that I took his picture anyway!

We celebrated our 2nd Anniversary in April. Hard to believe that is has been two years already! Hopefully in another year, we will be moving out of my parents' basement and into a house of our own. We are living there to save money and until Bill finds another job. He took the Post Office test a few weeks ago and did really well. We are still waiting to hear his results. In the meantime, Bill is working on getting into shape in order to reapply at the prison. Things are looking up and progressing everyday!

Christmas 2007 and New Year's 2008

We once again had two Christmases this year, but all in one day! (Like Thanksgiving) Bill and I had Christmas with my family in the morning, then got dressed and drove up to his family's to open presents there.

Bill got me a new iPod and a replacement battery for my portable DVD player (my other one was broken, or more correctly broke when it fell off the bed.)

I got Bill an old XBOX and Halo as he has been wanting to play Halo again for a long time. Also, I got him a new .22 Rifle for target shooting.

The biggest present was the new super gaming computer my mom had built for Bill for Christmas. He was so excited to open the biggest present "under" the tree. Apparently my mom is trying to show Bill that he truly is spoiled now that he is part of our family. (He argues that he isn't.) He loves the computer and brags to all his online friends about all the cool stuff in his computer.

My parents bought me a new pink digital camera and lots of books and DVDs that I have been wanting. It helps to pass the time commuting back and forth to work. We have these really nice buses (kind of like a charter bus) on which I can plug in my DVD player and watch shows and movies all the way to work. Veronica Mars is my newest favorite, but sadly it has already been cancelled and I can only watch the same three seasons over and over.

We spent New Year's with Bill's parents. The time was spent mostly playing Guitar Hero and eating lots of good food. Zoey (the puppy) didn't like staying up so late. She slept whenever anyone would leave her alone long enough. I don't think she gets the whole hoopla of New Year's Eve.
